Violinist Gregory Ahss began playing the violin at the age of five at Gnessin Music School in his native Moscow. He continued his education at the Israel Conservatory of Music, the Tel-Aviv Academy of Music and the New-England Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Lena Mazor, Irena Svetlova and Donald Weilerstein. He received a scholarship from the American-Israeli Cultural Foundation. Although still a student, Gregory founded the piano trio Tal, which won numerous awards.

In 2004 he made his solo debut under Claudio Abbado and Orchestra Mozart Bologna and went on to perform regularly with Abbado since then. Gregory’s recording of Haydn’s Symphony Concertante with Orchestra Mozart under the baton of Claudio Abbado has won numerous prestigious awards including ICMA the best concerto of the year 2015. As a soloist he also appeared with such conductors as Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Teodor Curretzis, Daniel Blendulf and Andres Orozco Estrada, with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Mozart, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Camerata Salzburg. Among his chamber music partners are Natalia Gutman, Janine Jansen, Vilde Frang, James Ehnes, Lawrence Power, Emmanuel Pahud, Gautier Capuçon, Nicolas Altstaed, Alexander Melnikov, Sabine Meyer, Valentin Urban, Konstantin Pfiz and Daniel Hope, with whom he performed Bach and Vivaldi double concerti. He also performed as a violin duo partner with Pinchas Zukerman.

Gregory has appeared as guest concertmaster with such notable ensembles as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Mozart, Belgrade Philharmonic and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra leading the repertoire ranging from chamber symphonies to full symphonic literature from the violin. Also as a guest leader he appears amongst others with orchestras such as London Symphony, Bavarian Radio Symphony orchestra, Montreal Symphony, Munich Opera, Orchestra della Academia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and Bamberg Symphony. He is Concertmaster of Camerata Salzburg and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.

Cellist Konstantin Pfiz studied with George Faust in Berlin, with David Strange at London’s Royal Academy of Music and with Harvey Shapiro at New York’s Juilliard. From 1997 to 2011, he was a solo cellist in the Gustav Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and since 2014 he has been the first solo cellist in the Bergen Philharmonic. As a soloist, he played concerts with the Orchestra Mozart, Bremen and Munich Philharmonic Orchestra i.d. He is a member of Trio Clemente, which was awarded the 1998 ARD Music Competition and has performed at the Konzerthaus in Vienna, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, London’s Wigmore Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York. He is a founding member of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.
