Every year, young musicians from all over the world receive intensive education at the highest and, more importantly, the most personal level.
The Orchestra Academy
The Orchestra Academy students acquire the necessary technical and interpretative skills, build confidence in the response, function and collaboration within the orchestra, knowledge of different styles and epochs, and learn how to adapt. During the various phases of the symphony and chamber orchestra, individual, sectional and group rehearsals, the work of the participants is guided and monitored by selected mentors. They also play concerts with young participants, which is an invaluable experience and a unique opportunity that develops dynamics and supports the passion of musical reproduction. The Orchestra Academy provides participants with intensive work in the orchestra with internationally renowned musicians, developing personal potential and gaining invaluable experiences for the future. This educational programme has two important goals: refinement and excellence. With them, we set a high standard in orchestral performance in the most demanding programmes with multiple conductors and internationally renowned soloists.
Together with top professors, the masterclasses are designed to offer young musicians top-level lessons, where they create and design the music repertoire in excellent conditions, prepare for an important audition or competition, and refine their playing technically and musically. Particular attention is paid to the musician’s artistic conviction which is why we also give the best participants a public concert at the Ljubljana Festival. The basis of each course is the individual reworking of the participant’s chosen repertoire, and the repertoire upgrade is the disclosure of musical reproduction from different perspectives, both in solo and chamber literature, either in a group play of the same instruments or accompanied by a piano. Guest tutors pianists are selected by professors and are more than reliable collaborators during the course and at concerts. The success of the masterclass depends largely on the pianists, and we pay a lot of attention to it.
Musicians are also proficient in their professional development and access to content for active career planning, creation and management. We have implemented some great programmes that equip young people with competencies, courage and confidence. It is an insight into all levels of career counselling, vocational activity, continuing vocational training, including gaining practical work experience.
