LJUBLJANA INTERNATIONAL ORCHESTRA
OUR LOVE, OUR INSPIRATION, OUR ORCHESTRA. UNIQUE BLEND OF THE FINEST TALENTS, CULTURAL DIVERSITY AND ARTISTIC VISION.
The Ljubljana International Orchestra has become more and more established among young musicians and the best professional artists since it has successfully performed in Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, the United Kingdom, and Spain. The orchestra consists of young excellent musicians who gain invaluable experience by playing in the symphony orchestra and collaborate with renowned professors, conductors, and soloists. Musicians from more than thirty-five different countries, including different cultures and social backgrounds, strive together for the highest performing goals. The repertoire of the orchestra covers symphonic works of Viennese classic and romance as well as contemporary works of the 20th and 21st centuries. Sincere enthusiasm, youthful energy, and irresistible courage are the basis for engaging in the great masterpieces of the symphonic repertoire, which the musicians undertake in several working stages each year. The orchestra has collaborated with soloists such as the Wolfram Christ violist, Branimir Slokar, trombone, Reinhold Friedrich trumpet player, cellist Konstantin Pfiz, violinist Gregory Ahss, and violist Gilad Karni. The concertmasters of the orchestra are Gregory Ahss (concertmaster of the Camerate Salzburg and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra), Janez Podlesek (concertmaster of the Slovenian Philharmonic) and Yuri Kalnits (soloist). Konstantin Pfiz (cello), Knut-Erik Sundquist (double bass), Jože Kotar (clarinet), Igor Ahss (bassoon), Zora Slokar (french horn), Mihael Šuler (trombone) and Raymond Curfs (timpani) are also permanently active in the orchestra. The Ljubljana International Orchestra is the cultural ambassador of the City of Ljubljana. It represents the Slovenian capital and portrays Ljubljana as a cosmopolitan city, a city of young people, a place of creativity and opportunity. The first conductor of the orchestra is Živa Ploj Peršuh.
