This year, the Ljubljana International Orchestra is hosting the International Orchestra Academy as part of the EU project Sounds of Change, a Creative Europe programme co-funded by the European Union.
On Aug. 25, 2023, LIO will welcome musicians selected for the 2023 Orchestra Academy through the Sounds of Change open call in Ljubljana. The Academy offers curious, passionate and enthusiastic musicians an intensive program where they can develop their personal potential and gain invaluable experience for the future. Participating musicians are provided with accommodation, meals and travel expenses by Sounds of Change.
The educational program is put together by LIO’s chief conductor, Živa Ploj Peršuh, in close cooperation with internationally renowned musicians invited to participate in the program as music professors. This is an invaluable experience and a unique opportunity for all, as it develops momentum and fosters passion for musical performance.
Sounds of Change
The main goal of the Sounds of Change project is to give young musicians the opportunity to nurture and develop their skills to make them successful artists. By giving them the opportunity to enrol in the International Orchestra Academy, attend intensive chamber music exchange workshops, attend master classes, rehearse and perform on international stages, we promote the exchange of experiences between young artists and renowned top musicians. In addition, by performing on a wide variety of stages, they gain deeper insight that helps them discuss and improve artistic, social, political and environmental issues.
